Summer Reads & Progress
it's almost my birthday, yay
I'm not going to lie, I'm going to be in San Diego, praying that this sends, is scheduled, and arrives on the 15th as planned. I’ll be very sad if this doesn’t go through as planned, considering I’m being proactive and actually writing this in advance.
I’ll keep my rambling short since I have a lot of books to share.
My next project was announced on social media last week: The Tokyo Yakuza. I shared the publishing plans for it, with the first book scheduled for release in late 2025.
Since then, I have decided to nail down a timeline and pick a release date for it! I’m not going to announce quite yet, but I have my cover designer and editor nailed down and I reached out to 2 PR companies to help me make content for it. I’m waiting to see who has the better deal and is willing to make payment plans for me as small as possible.
I have my street team as well and sharing all my news with them has made it SO MUCH easier to write and be motivated. They’ve seen unreleased art, the work in progress cover that I made for Thorns and Ivies’ 1st birthday…
Oh, by the way - on August 1st, Thorns and Ivies will be getting a new look. And I think I cooked. I can’t wait to start making those reveal graphics and showing it off. I ordered a paperback proof, which is going to come in on the day this comes out (the 15th)…. and I won’t be there to see it till Friday.
Now, I have a lot of books to share with you guys this month, so bear with me. And mind you, they all are either 10/10 or seem like they are about to be 10/10.
Dearly Unbeloved by Sophie Snow
She needs a wife to secure a promotion. Her roommate needs a wife to claim her inheritance. A marriage of convenience is the perfect solution—if only they didn’t hate each other.
Rose Cannon might not be thriving, but she’s doing her best. Her relationship with her family is rocky, she’s not great with people, and sometimes she can’t make herself get out of bed. Work is the one place she’s perfect—until she lies to her boss and pretends to be engaged to the messy roommate she loathes.
Sierra Hayashi has bigger problems than her stuck up roommate. The deadline for the inheritance she’s counting on is fast approaching, and she still hasn’t done the one thing she needs to do to claim it: get married. Easier said than done, considering she ends every relationship after three months.
When a drunk night in Vegas presents Rose and Sierra with an answer to their problems, they face a new challenge: can they survive staying married when they despise each other? Or will pretending to be in love unravel everything they think they hate about each other?
Dearly Unbeloved is a spicy sapphic romance. It contains explicit sexual content and sensitive topics. Thorough content warnings can be found on the author’s website.
This is usually where I move on to the next book, but I have actually read Dearly Unbeloved already and can I just say… good shit. 10/10.
Sure, the FMCs pissed me off a lot which did hinder my rating, but the smut was just…. phew.
Sophie did it again, friends.

Will life in the spotlight be too much for Savannah?
Only one way to find out: Carpe f*cking diem.
Deep in Love by Nicole Cuba
Three weeks at sea. Two researchers. One chance to evolve.
“What would Charles Darwin do?”In Charlie Bowen’s twenty-six years of life, the motto has never failed her. Until now. She’s confident the naturalist wouldn’t know what to do if he were stuck at sea with Mateo Alvarez. Throw him overboard, most likely.
Participating as a scientific advisor on the SeaStar research vessel is Charlie’s dream come true. However, her fantasies never included a documentary film or cohabitation in tiny quarters with her sworn enemy. Despite her exhilaration to uncover what lurks in the ocean’s depths, she’s wholly unprepared to discover something far more revolutionary at the surface—with Mateo, it’s hard to hide the scars of her past. Worse, she may not want to.
For years, she’s abided by a strict set of guidelines to keep her heart safe. Her life begins and ends with her best friend and PhD work. Yet with every lingering glance, broken rule, and stolen kiss, Charlie begins to rediscover parts of herself she once considered lost.
But life at sea is not the real world—a reality that continues to haunt her, even miles offshore—and as the two move into unknown territory with each other, there’s one question that matters most: Can their relationship evolve into something spectacular, or are they doomed for extinction?
